News from Year 6

Year 6 have settled into term 3 - a term that I feel is going to be even busier than the last two!

Leadership

Next Monday morning, the Grade 5/6 students will be participating in the "Unlocking Your Inner Leader" workshop run by Kids Helpline. The workshop aims to lead students towards:

  • Understanding the strengths and qualities of leaders and how these can vary
  • Identifying their individual leadership strengths and qualities
  • Empowering them to use their voice
  • Developing their leadership qualities through focussing on confidence development, communication and active listening

This week, Year 6 Leaders have finalised their lunchtime activity plan for the next few weeks, where they will be running activities for the younger students at playtime!

This is what is planned for this week:

We can't wait to see their Leadership skills in action!

Production - Shrek Jr

Next week, students will find out what role they will have in the School Production. Some students have been working very hard practising lines and character voices preparing for auditions that are currently being held for the large roles. Students who requested medium or small roles will be discussing their role preferences with teachers next week. Thanks to Ms Forbes and Mrs Beveridge for assisting with this process, and to the students for their enthusiastic efforts! We are hopeful to have all 5/6 roles allocated by the end of next week.

NAIDOC Week

This week we have completed numerous activities learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and in particular gathering information to prepare our class bollard about Vicki Clark. We can't wait to put all our information and pictures on it and display it in the school.

On Monday, some students from our class will be retelling "Warnayarra the Rainbow Snake" during assembly. It would be great to see some of you there if you are available.
