Remote Learning Continues To Surprise Us

It is hard to believe that as I write this we have been working in this remote situation for only 15 days! It certainly feels as though we have been operating in the world of Webex meetings and Compass Learning Tasks for a lot longer. The amount of work which is being sent to teachers is showing us that our students and families have fast become experts at accessing the learning tasks and engaging in the remote program. It is fantastic to see photos and video clips coming in of our students learning at home, along with completed work and our teachers are enjoying providing feedback and engaging directly with their students.

Webex meetings have become a normal event with classes catching up at least once a week providing a social connection and learning support for students. You will have hopefully have seen the recent Compass post from Jane Stacey on behalf of the Specialist teachers on the Bundoora campus, who are now offering Webex meetings for interested students to join in. Please see the Compass post for more detailed information. The specialists teachers have also been receiving lots of contact and work directly from students which has been fantastic.

Additional resources for families

ABC Education has worked together with the DET to provide resources and support for families during this remote learning period. As you may be aware the ABC ME (channel 23) is screening content daily on the TV to support students and families learning at home. Information about the TV schedule and content can be found here https://www.abc.net.au/tveducation/

The ABC is also asking students to send a short video saying hello to their teachers which they are then going to use to create a big message that they will share on ABC ME and their social media forums. If your child would like to participate you will find further information here to create a short video message
