Term Four, 2022

Advent

Advent began on Sunday the 27th November.  The four candles on the Advent wreath symbolise hope (purple), love (purple), joy (pink) and peace (purple)

When we light the first candle on Sunday, it reminds us to centre our thoughts on hope, as we prepare our hearts to celebrate Jesus’ arrival.  The wreath that is often associated with Christmas has no beginning and no end.

It demonstrates to us the continuous circle of life, and the eternity of God.  Our students have created their own wreath in our foyer, each of their hands inter-twined with their peers.

Advent Prayer

As we light our first Advent candle we prepare our hearts for the coming of

Jesus’ light into our lives. Come, Jesus, light up our hearts.

We have had an incredibly action packed term so far, and still so many events to go to round out the 2022 school year. Our Year 3/4 students had a great time at Borambola for their action packed camp and the Year 5/6s had a whirlwind tour of Canberra. Our students did a wonderful job of representing Sacred Heart School on the camps and I thank their teachers and learning support officers for their great care and support of our students while away.

Please check out the Camps, SHS Events and Classroom Happenings pages in the newsletter to see some great pictures of the fun being had at SHS.

In our last three weeks of the 2022 school year, we still have many things to learn, celebrate and enjoy. Below is an outline of the different events that will be occurring in Week 9, 10 and 11. We will be sending out different invitations to our families over the coming days, but please see the below outline of dates and events to refer back to.

As well as celebrating our wonderful Year 6 students as they move off to tackle Secondary education, we will also be celebrating and farewelling members of staff who won't be with us at SHS in 2023. We look forward to celebrating our Year 6s, staff whom are leaving and our incoming Foundation 2023 students at our Graduation Mass on Thursday the 15th of December at 10 am. This will also be our last day of school, with a normal finish time of 3.10pm.

We are looking forward to celebrating the 2022 school year with you all over the coming weeks and getting ready for another great year at SHS in 2023.
