Principal's Report

Dear families and friends of MPW,

Welcome back to Term 3. We are looking forward to an exciting, fun term full of learning as we have several exciting learning activities and celebrations planned, including: MVIMP camp and Soiree, 100 Days of School for our F/1 students, Book Week Dress Up Day on Monday 21st August; and the MPW Show Day at the end of term.

Next week we welcome Jenny Strouzas to the Acting Assistant Principal role for the remainder of the school year. Jenny comes from Strathmore Primary School and is looking forward to being part of the MPW community.

This term we also welcome some new teaching staff to MPW, Jasmin Fiske started in Room 2 this week and Kate Lavender will commence part time in Room 10 from next week.

Vale Lorraine Wilson

It is with sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Lorraine Wilson. Lorraine worked with MPW for 30 years and had a significant impact within the school and community. Those who knew and worked with Lorraine speak very highly of her supportive and knowledgeable contributions to the school.

2024 Enrolments

A reminder for our current community members that enrolment applications for 2024 Foundation students are to be submitted to the school by Friday 28th July.

Capital Works Update

We continue to work through the capital works planning stages with the Victorian School Building Authority. We are still on track with our expected timeline and continue to look for a Term 4 (October) start to the building and playground works.

Part way through this term we will begin the process of preparing our Hall and Library buildings for the upcoming works. For those classes in F/1 that will be impacted, we will be communicating directly with families as to the arrangements for Term 4 once finalised.

We will continue to keep the community updated through the newsletter and Compass as to the implications of the building works once details are finalised.

3-way Conferences

Our parent, teacher and student conferences will be held on two separate nights, Thursday 20th July and Tuesday 25th July.

These conferences will provide a chance to discuss your student’s progress, achievements and goals. The conferences will be bookable on Compass. A Compass push will be sent when this is open.

Bookings through Compass will give parents the choice to indicate if they would like a face to face or an online interview. When selecting your preferred time there is a pop-up with the option to select the location of the meeting as either online or face to face, if selecting online the booking will provide you with the teacher’s Webex link.

Dress Code Update

A reminder that students are now required to wear a school logoed top for offsite activities, excursions and sport events. This can include the polos, jumpers, jackets and year 6 tops.

Regards,

Jarrod Sutton
