Save the gorillas

Hi, we’re from JSC. We are working on a project to help save the gorillas. You can help us help the gorillas by donating your old phones to the office, where there will be a container to put them in. These phones are important to gorillas because the zoo recycles the old phones and the money from this effort goes to the gorilla doctors so they can get better resources to help injured gorillas.

Writer’s Festival 2018

We would like to thank everyone who attended the Writer’s Festival on Thursday 15th of November. The students benefitted immensely from having an authentic audience to share their writing with and they took a lot of pride in their work and the feedback from those who attended was overwhelmingly positive. We would also like to thank the staff who took the time out of their very busy term four schedules to allow time in their classroom and support students in preparing their writing for the festival.

“I think this writing was very creative. I wonder where this imagination is going to go?”

“I really enjoyed the time to be able to see and share my child’s writing.”

“What amazing writing and creative minds they have. Great progress made.”

“What a great idea to celebrate reading and writing so kids feel like authors.”

“It is great to see in the drafts how the editing process happens. The students all have such wonderful imaginations! How can we keep that creativity and imagination going as they get older?”

“Great to see the child’s progression with their story writing from the beginning of the year to the end. We were so lucky that we got to share this experience with our children.”

“It was fun, creative, interactive and entertaining. Loved seeing the standard of writing presented. Well Done! I wonder where these great writers might be in 20 years time. They are amazing.”

Finally, the Writer’s Festival would not have been possible without the writers themselves! We would like to thank the students for their dedication and creativity.
