Vending machine revamp

Our Year12 Work Studies class has been heavily engaged with the upkeep of our School Vending Machine, supplying staff and students with essential stationery items required for classwork, as well as snacks to cure that hungry feeling during recess and lunch.  Along the way, students have learnt financial management, advertising, stocktaking and selection, as well as making decisions, collaborating during business meetings and working as part of a team. At the end of this term, our successful business is approaching its first year anniversary and has successfully sold over 2200 products with a gross profit of almost $5000 in sales - which is fantastic!

To give our Year 12 students a deeper understanding of running both a business and vending machines, we had a visit from Tony Hlaihel of United Vending Services and TCN Vending Australia. Tony has 20 years of experience in this industry. He shared his career journey with our students, explaining how he first began the business operating from his garage with the support of his family. Tony now operates two businesses from an office in Padstow, with over 200 machines at various sites around Sydney. In recent years, United Vending Services and TCN Vending Australia manufactures and supplies vending machines from their premises in Prestons.

Tony also visited our vending machine. He spent time with our Year 12 students removing and upgrading various parts and has donated over $800 worth of essential upgrades, including free installation. This has allowed us to store more items for purchase, as well as dispensing notes for change.  His generosity of both time and money came as an absolute surprise and we are enormously grateful to Tony!

If you are interested in vending machines for your business, or setting up a vending machine business, we highly recommend contacting Tony.

We remind all students and staff the school vending machine in our school library is providing an essential stationery and snack service and is available during all break times.

The Year12 Work Studies class also appreciates the support of Library staff and school office staff who assist in the running of this successful school business.

To all students and staff, feel free to scan the QR code on the vending machine and send us your suggestions of what you would like to see made available for purchase at our Cecil Hills High School vending machine.
