Rebound '21: VCE Music Concert

Breeanna Dodd

On Wednesday 28th April the year 11 and 12 VCE music bands (as well as some CSC alumni) took a trip to Hume Central Secondary College to perform at Rebound ’21, a combined school rock concert. This performance is held annually, and provides students with an opportunity to perform in front of a live audience. This year, there was  an additional virtual audience due to Covid restrictions.

The audience was ready after an 18-month wait since the last live concert, and the program was filled to the max with up-and-coming bands. The show went for 2 hours with 7 different schools performing.

The CSC year 12 band, Sage Moon, performed Somethings Got A Hold On Me by Christina Aguilera, which is part of our VCE Music prorgam, whilst the year 11 band, The Lost Chord, performed Crazy by Gnarls Barkley. Due to some absences, we had Sam Page and Hay Junior Vagana (Class of 2020) fill in, and we thank them incredibly!

The show went smoothly, and the performances sounded awesome! It was a great atmosphere filled with positivity and encouragement. The show was an amazing opportunity to see what performing is like outside of our school with professional equipment as well as an awesome team of people working their hardest behind the scenes to make sure we sounded our best.

The encouragement and support were greatly appreciated by everyone and created a light-hearted environment were singing and dancing along to the bands was not only done but encouraged.

All in all, the concert was a fun, memorable night, and an amazing opportunity. On behalf of the performing arts students of CSC we thank Ms Gorman and the Instrumental Music staff for organising this experience.
