College Principal report
Amy Porter
2022 is a year of School Review for our College. Every four years, schools undertake a formal review process with the aim of improving student outcomes in both learning and wellbeing. Using the in-depth work we do through the review, we write a new 4-year strategic plan, this strategic plan guides the school, helping us to set goals and focus our efforts.
A huge part of our review process is gathering feedback from parents, students and staff. In order to hear from parents we are running a parent consultation evening on Thursday 5 May between 7pm-8.30pm.
We will be asking some simple questions:
On that night we will also be asking for feedback regarding our current reporting system. We would like to talk to parents about proposed changes and to gather feedback. As learning changes, assessment and reporting changes and we feel that it is time to update or processes and practices.
We would like as many parents as possible to attend and I will be sending out regular reminders and asking parents to register their interest by an event bright form that will be published in the first week of Term 2.
Due to the knock on effects of COVID our uniform supplier Bob Stewart has had supply and delivery issues. To support families and students, we will extend our normal change over to winter uniform to later in Term 2. Students are expected to wear their blazers to class commencing Week 4, Term 2 but are not expected to be in full winter uniform until 30 May.
A reminder that students are required to wear the College Blazer to and from school and should not wear any other outer garment. Students are permitted to wear a plain navy blue or black rain jacket on days where it is raining only.
April 28-May 27 - Students may wear winter or summer uniform
May 16 - All students to wear College blazer to class
May 30 - All students to be in winter uniform
The College's second-hand uniform store has a large selection of College blazers and some stock in winter pants. The uniform shop operates from Bluff Road on Thursday mornings during school terms between 8.15am and 9.15am.
Families experiencing financial hardship or facing difficulty around purchasing uniform items, should contact the relevant Year Level Leader for a confidential discussion. As a school we want to ensure that all students have access to a uniform, books and other resources, so please ask if you need help.

Cricketing legend Shane Warne was not only a great spin bowler, he was also a student of Hampton High School in Years 7-9. Hampton High School was amalgamated with Highett HS and Beaumaris HS to create Sandringham College.
Shane Warne was regarded by many as the greatest leg spinner in the history of cricket. He enjoyed an illustrious international cricketing career spanning 1990 to 2008 and was the Australian Captain in 1998 & 1999.
It seems fitting, that as a former student of Hampton High School, we pay our respects to Shane Warne and mourn him as a valued member of our local community.
In 1987 Hampton High School became Hampton Campus of Sandringham Secondary College upon amalgamation with Beaumaris and Highett High Schools and Sandringham Technical School.
