Year 10 Commedia dell’Arte & Unit 1 Theatre Studies Pre-Modern Showcase

Year 7 Drama

Fiona Bechtold & Prue Slingsby

The year 7 Drama students have been busy rehearsing and presenting mime performances for assessment. It has been amazing to see the students developing their creativity, confidence and collaborative skills. It has been wonderful to see the students laughing and enjoying the opportunity to play and create together.

Year 10 Theatre Studies

Fiona Bechtold & Amy Porter

The year 10 theatre class further developed their understanding of Commedia del'arte through an amazing  workshop with Rosa Campagnaro from 'Make-a-Scene' . They enthusiastically participated in a play based session which explored character physicality, lazzi, gibberish, masks and silly walks! Students have embedded this learning in their group performances which they presented for assessment. It's been a fantastic and fun term of exaggeration, slapstick and comedy.

VCE Unit 1 Showcase

Students in Unit 1 are congratulated on their work in the VCE Unit 2 showcase. They highlighted their rapidly developing knowledge on production roles in acting, direction and design and were able to collaborate to produce engaging scenes using Ritual and Ancient Greek Theatre styles and conventions. Perhaps the most exciting aspect for students was the ability to showcase their stage combat knowledge from recent training workshops and to finally perform to a responsive live audience. Students have worked very hard this term and are excited to launch into the study of Realism next term, followed by explorations of Modern Theatre.
