What's been happening in Year 7

and Year 8 Science this week?

Having returned to school and achieved their 'Bunsen Burner Licenses', year 7 students finally got to do some practical work. After learning about mixtures and solutions students were set the challenge of separating a mixture of sand, salt, iron filings and grass using different techniques. They came up with a plan, carried it out and then reflected on their success. I was very impressed with students enthusiasm and safe participation.

Year 8 students returned to school to finish their unit on body systems just in time to do some dissections of hearts and lungs. After learning about the structure and function of the respiratory and circulatory systems, we got to see it first hand. I never get sick of seeing the reaction when I use a vacuum cleaner on reverse to inflate a lung.
