Online Continuous Learning

As has been acknowledged Term 2 has been challenging, rewarding and unprecedented for all of us: teachers, students and leaders. Can I take this opportunity to echo the sentiments of many when I thank and congratulate the amazing and committed teachers and students at this school who have demonstrated positivity, persistence and resilience over the last 15 weeks.

Assessment and Reporting

Due to the unpredictable and inequitable learning conditions for our students whilst in OCL, assessment will look a little different in Term 2. We have followed the lead of the Victorian Curriculum Assessment Authority (VCAA) and declared that assessment done during this time was a formative assessment, meaning it was one task done amongst many, that is ongoing, flexible and diagnostic to show the teacher what the student knows. Students will still receive valuable feedback from teachers in their Formative ALT and a rating of Very High, High, Satisfactory, Needs Improvement, Not Assessed or Not Satisfactory. Students will not receive a % result for ALT 2 Formative task. Year 12 students who completed their assessment back at school will receive % result which contributes to their study score. If the Year 12 assessment was done during OCL the teacher will use verifications tasks done at school to ensure assessment was authentic and accurate.

The Semester 1 Report will continue to report student's learning habits and summarise ALT results. The Department of Education and Training has asked schools to report to parents their perception of how each student coped in the online learning environment.

Teachers on leave

There have been some classes where it is difficult to make an accurate assessment of each student's learning habits and ability to cope in the online environment so Semester Reports will be delayed until the teacher returns from leave. A notification will be sent to parents via Compass when the Semester Report has been updated.

The following classes did not run during OCL so will not be assessed:

-Design and Technologies -Wood Year 7, 9, 10

-Design and Technologies - Food Year 8

-Digital Technologies Year 7

We are all looking forward to a term of stability and consolidation after the holidays!
