This week our Junior students have been busy planting native trees and shrubs (Wild Iris, Banksia, Callistemon, Willow Myrtle, Acacia and Dodonaea)  in areas to the front and fence line of our school grounds and in our garden space behind the cottage. These shrubs vary in height from one to three metres. The trees, Acacia Floribunda wattles will grow to a height of four metres and the Agonis Willow Myrtle will grow to a height of ten metres. All our shrubs and trees are flowering and will attract birds and bees.

Our youngest students learnt to plant seed bombs. Each one is coated in a mineral clay to protect the seeds. A tiny seed bomb contains fifty seeds with a variety of leafy greens, like mizuna, loose leaf, mustard and romaine cos. Students recognized the visual as lettuce. It also has chilli powder inside to deter slugs and snails. The students took turns to water the seed bomb then made a hole with their finger to plant it into the garden beds.
