Arthur's Seat Hike

Outdoor Education – Arthurs Seat Bushwalk

This week the Outdoor Education program visited Arthurs Seat for their first short bushwalk. Our group learned the Aboriginal Boonwurrung name for this hill is Wonga. As we began our walk a wedge-tailed eagle flew overhead. This is what the Wurundjeri people call Bunjil. In total the group walked nearly 2 kilometers.

Our students were safe and responsible in the environment. We saw various wildlife including she-oaks, gum tress, rosellas, kookaburras, lorikeets and Eastern-Grey kangaroos. One kangaroo even had a joey in her pouch!

Our students used the signs and maps to locate landmarks such as Melbourne City, the You-Yangs, Mud Island and Port Phillip Bay Heads, known as The Rip.

Thank you to all our students for having a go. We look forward to our next bush-walk at Warringine Park & Bittern Coastal Wetlands.
