Reflections on Faith

From the desk of the Religious Education Coordinator - Miss McMeniman

Holy Week:

Holy Week begins on Sunday April 2nd. This week is the lead up to Easter. It begins with Palm Sunday and moves through to Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday.

This is a very special week in the Catholic calendar, which brings about celebrations and occasions in the school calendar as well.

On Monday, our Year 6 students will present 'The Stations of the Cross' to the rest of the school. The Stations represent Jesus' crucifixion, prior to his resurrection on Easter. We have been practising our parts and it will be a beautiful and reflective occasion for all.

On Tuesday, our Stage 3 students are travelling to Armidale to be a part of the Chrism Mass with members from the Diocese. This Mass, led by a Bishop, reminds us of our oneness in Christ through Baptism and its holy anointing. It is particularly important for Confirmation candidates as this is where the Chrism Oil, used in Confirmation is blessed.

Sacrament of First Holy Communion:

The Sacrament of First Holy Communion will be completed next term. This is for students in Years 3 and above who have not completed this Sacrament prior. The parent meeting will be held on the 3rd May at 5:30pm in the Church. Enrolment notes will be available on the night. There is also a cost of $15 to cover the workbooklet and gifts from the Parish. First Holy Communion will be held on the 4th June.
