Year 2 Blue Chapel – Imaginative Writing
This week in Chapel, Year 2 Blue shared their learning from Literacy this term as they explored imaginative writing. Students explained that imaginative texts are stories that are not real and often include exciting characters, settings and problems to solve.
They learnt about the structure of a story, including the orientation, complication and resolution, and spent time planning their own ideas before writing. Students thought carefully about their characters, setting, the problem in the story and how it would be resolved.
The class worked together to write a story as a model before creating their own imaginative pieces. During Chapel, several students shared their favourite parts of their stories, filled with superheroes, mysterious monsters and exciting adventures. They also designed front covers to match their stories.
Year 2 Blue did a wonderful job sharing their creativity and storytelling with our school community!
Performing Arts Afternoon
In Week 10 on Monday 30 March at 2.30pm, parents are invited to watch students in Band and Dance to see what they have been working on this term.
Afternoon tea will be provided and we will finish at 3.00pm.

Easter Chapel and Easter Hat Parade
Our Easter Chapel this year will be held on Thursday 2 April at 1.30pm. The Easter Hat Parade will follow directly after the Easter Chapel service in the school gym.
We will aim to be finished by 3pm. This will be a very special time for our school community and all families are invited to join us!
Kindly note, we've had to adjust the timing of our event this year, due to an event at Church so thank you in advance for your understanding.
As part of our Easter celebrations, students will be designing and constructing Easter hats to bring to school for a parade. We encourage all students to participate, designing hats that symbolise this time of the year.
There will be three categories for prizes that students in each class can win:
Most Robustly Constructed Easter Hat
Most Creatively Themed Easter Hat
Most Symbolic Easter Hat
An Easter bake sale will be operating with both cash and EFTPOS accepted.
Please note that there will be NO BUSES operating this afternoon.

Uniform Shop open during School Holidays
We will be opening the uniform shop for two days Friday 10 April and Friday 17 April in the school holidays for anyone who would like to purchase any winter uniform.
Uniform fittings are strictly by appointment only. Families must have a confirmed booking to attend. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate walk-ins as it is difficult to manage fittings and serve families adequately without scheduled appointments.

Winter Uniform and Photo Day
Students are to be in full winter uniform from week three in Term 2.
A kind reminder that all students need to wear full winter uniform for our Whole School Photo Day on Thursday 14 May.

Volunteer Opportunity - Food Stall at Musical
If any parents would like to volunteer to help at the food stall selling food and drinks before the musical, please be so kind as to send an email to Mrs Jordaan at enrolments@hpcs.nsw.edu.au.
We will have a different team for each night, therefore you only have to volunteer for one night. Each parent volunteer will also receive a free ticket to the musical.

Parents Prayer Group
All parents are warmly invited to join our Parents Prayer Group.
Last year, this was a very encouraging time as we gathered together to pray for our children, families, and the school community. Whether you’ve joined us before or this would be your first time, everyone is welcome. There’s no pressure, just a simple and supportive space to spend time together in prayer.
