K-Pop Dancers
Congratulations to Amelia, Alana and Ella (Grade 5/6) who performed in their K-Pop dancing concert late last term. What a great achievement to be part of such a big event. We can't wait to see your dance moves in lunchtime Dance Club!
Callum is heading to Hong Kong!
Congratulations to Callum Liew (4B) for making it to the semi-finals of the Hong Kong International Drummer Festival 2025 (Asia-Pacific Under 12 category)! Callum was invited to perform at the event in Hong Kong in June. This was a significant accomplishment, as Callum was the youngest drummer in his category and is also self-taught.
Adding to the memorable experience of meeting drummers from different countries across the Asia-Pacific region, Callum had the incredible opportunity to meet Senri Kawaguchi, a renowned international drummer, during the festival. It was an inspiring moment for him to connect with such a talented artist.
Well done, Callum! We wish you all the best in your future drumming pursuits.

🎉 Carlton Gardens Chess Club Update
We’ve had an exciting few weeks in the world of chess, and we’re proud to share incredible news from our talented players!
♟️ CGPS Shines at the Victorian Junior State Championship:
Over the school holidays, four students from Carlton Gardens Primary School represented us at the Victorian Junior State Championship, the biggest youth chess event in the state with more than 360 participants!
🏆 Kaisar (4B) placed outright second in the Under 10 division,
🏆 Aidan (2B) finished equal first in the Under 8 category,
and🏅 Xinyao Fan (Dada, 6D) placed equal 3rd in his division — an amazing result!
We’re so proud of their hard work, sportsmanship, and dedication. Well done to all our players who took part!

The CGPS Chess Team also competed at the Alphington Grammar Interschool Championship on 29 July, coming home with a brilliant collection of medals:

We’re also excited to announce that the Carlton Gardens Chess Club will now run on Thursdays at lunchtime (1:20pm – 2:20pm) in the OSH Club Room.
Whether you’re keen to improve, prepare for tournaments, or just enjoy a casual game with friends, everyone is welcome. Come along and be part of our growing chess team!
