It has been another busy and exciting week at Alphington Primary School, with students continuing to represent our school with pride across a range of sporting events.
Congratulations to our Grade 6 Boys Cricket Team, who today competed in the Banyule Division Cricket Championships and also a huge congratulations goes to our Grade 6 Girls Tennis Team, who have progressed from the Division Championships through to the Northern Metropolitan Tennis Championships. Reaching these stages are a wonderful achievement and reflects both team's skill, teamwork and determination throughout their respective competitions. We are very proud of the way they represented our school.
The Grade 6 Girls Tennis team will compete on Thursday following the long weekend, and we wish them all the very best as they take on the next stage of competition
Over the next couple of weeks, our staff will be participating in moderation sessions during Professional Learning time, focusing on samples of student learning in English and Mathematics.
Moderation is the practice of teachers sharing and developing their understanding of what learning looks like by examining examples of student work and comparing them against Victorian Achievement Standards. This collaborative process helps teachers establish:
What standard has been achieved?
Moderation also provides valuable opportunities for professional discussion about:
What successful learning looks like.
Through these discussions, teachers continue to build shared expectations and ensure consistency in assessment practices across the school, ultimately supporting improved learning outcomes for all students.
World Teachers' Day is celebrated internationally on 5 October each year. As this date falls during school holidays in many parts of Australia, the national celebration is held on the final Friday of October. This year, Victorian schools will celebrate World Teachers' Day on Friday 30 October.
World Teachers' Day provides an opportunity to recognise the dedication, expertise and care that teachers bring to their work every day. We are fortunate to have an outstanding staff team at Alphington Primary School who continuously go above and beyond to support our students' growth, wellbeing and success. We thank all of our teachers for the positive difference they make in the lives of our students and families.
A reminder that we have a long weekend coming up, with students not at school on Monday or Tuesday.
We hope all families enjoy the long weekend and find some time to relax, recharge and spend time together.
We look forward to welcoming students back on Wednesday for another exciting week of learning.
