Principal's Message

Dear Families,
We have had an amazing fortnight here at Our Lady's, starting Term 2 strong! It was so lovely to watch our students step straight back into school without missing a beat - our students understand that they are here to learn and it was business as usual. We have welcomed two new students to our school (in Foundation & Grade 5) which is delightful. Our close-knit student community have welcomed them with open arms.
On the last day of Term 1, we welcomed families into our school for our Easter Presentation, a reflection based on the events of Holy Week. We were overjoyed with the presence of so many visitors in our school for this reflective event. Following the liturgy, we held our annual Easter Egg Raffle with all donations generated by our generous community. I am happy to report that we managed to raise a total of $912.80 for Project Compassion. Between our three fundraisers, this is an amazing outcome from our community. We raised $120.05 for Shrove Tuesday, $127.05 in change from the Project Compassion Boxes placed in the classrooms and a massive $665.70 for our raffle. Thank you everyone for your generous support and donations. A special shout out also to TheirCare who supported our raffle by donating chocolate.
Thank you to all the students and families who either attended our ANZAC Day Liturgy or the ANZAC Day Ceremony organised by the Wangaratta RSL. When we were given the opportunity for students to participate in the March, it was delightful to see the response from our community. Twelve of our students put up their hands to proudly represent the school. Thank you to all our students and families for making this possible.
Over the holidays, Ronan Holdsworth completed our 2nd mural of Mary along the front of our school. If you haven't had a chance, take a drive down White Street and check out this beautiful depiction of Mary. Over the next few months, we will be exploring our school identity and revising some of our core documents to ensure they reflect the school we offer today. Stay tuned to how you can be involved in this process! Until then, enjoy these beautfiully captured images of our new mural.
In the area of school improvement, we are pleased to announce that we will be upgrading our 'senior' playground in the near future. Due to the cost, we have obtained three quotes in order to ensure we make the best financial decision for the school. I will then work with our student community to get some much-needed student centred feedback. Stay tuned for exciting playground updates!
Lastly, it is time to dust off the House Coloured Clothing for our annual Cross Country! Mrs. Grant, Mrs. Hutchinson & our Grade 6 Leaders are all set to run this exciting event for our school. We are so blessed here at Our Lady's to have ample space to run this event without having to travel. If you can make it, we would love you to come along and join the cheer squad!
Blessings,
Cassie
