Principal's Message
From the Desk of Kathy Nott - Term 2, Week 4
Good afternoon, Parents/Carers,
Behaviour Focus
Our behaviour focus for Week 4 is Respectful:
We are learning to:
Follow teacher's instructions
We are successful when:
do it the first time you are asked
look at the teacher when they are speaking
whole body listening - hands in lap, legs crossed, no talking during learning time
hand up when you need to ask a question
Quirindi Zone Cross Country
Congratulations to Harry, Latrell, Indy, Julius, Parker, Theodore, Jed, Alice, Joe, Lillian F, Rose, Piper, Arabella, Luke, Jackson and Tyler who participated in the Quirindi Zone Cross Country last Thursday, 7th May. All students represented Werris Creek Public School with pride and ran against a very tough field of competitors.
Quirindi Zone PSSA Netball
Good luck to Telmie, Piper, Lillian, Hailie and Emily who are attending the PSSA Netball Trials this Thursday, 14th May in Quirindi. We wish you all the best and look forward to hearing about your experience.
Turn Up Awards
The "Turn Up" award was introduced last year to encourage our students to attend school every day. Each day your child attends their name will be entered into the draw to receive a paddle pop voucher. A voucher will be issued each week to each class. If your child attends 5 times in that week they have 5 entries. If they attend two days in that week they have 2 entries. Congratulations to our winners for Week 3:
2/3O - Julius
4/5/6T - Lillian F
Attendance Matters
Congratulations to the 37 students who are part of our 100% Club. These students have attended school 100% of the time in Term 2.

We have 41 Students in total attending 90% or above. Keep up the good work as attendance matters. Did you know if you miss 1 day per fortnight this equals 4 weeks per year and a total of 1 year missed over their schooling life.

Do It for Dolly Day
WCPS participated in "Do it for Dolly Day" last Friday, 8th May. It was great to see so many students dressed in the colour blue and give a gold coin donation. We raised $68 for the Dolly's Dream Foundation. Congratulations to Rowan, Chance, Harry, Alice, Rose, Piper and Jackson on winning a beautiful Dolly's Dream Butterfly Keyring for your entries in the Colouring in Competition and Kindness Questionnaire. Our office is filled with beautiful blue Kindness Butterflies as well as colouring in and words of kindness. Dolly’s Dream provides free support and resources to help navigate the challenges of bullying and its impacts, connect with services, and take steps towards creating a kinder, safer world. For more information go to their website: www.dollysdream.org.au

Mother's Day Breakfast
It was great to see all of our Mothers/Significant Female Caregivers come together with their children and join us for breakfast last Friday morning. We hope you enjoyed the morning just as much as we did celebrating with you. We hope you had a great Mother's Day on Sunday.
The Garden Project 4/5/6T
Our 4-6 students attended the Garden Project today at the Werris Creek Community Garden. This project engages our students in the garden and understanding the importance of nature and our environment.
National Walk Safely to School Day

Canteen
The P&C have advised that the Canteen will be opening on Mondays and Fridays from next week. Thank you to Trudy Tiplady for your help and availability.
Parent/Carer Survey
The Parent/Carer Survey will open next Monday, 18th May through to Friday, 29th May. The survey gives you the opportunity to share your experience at our school, including communication, inclusion, wellbeing and how your child's learning is supported. The opportunity to Opt out of the survey is now available and can be found on the Sentral App. Forms to opt out will close this Friday, 15th May. The survey will be open on Monday, 18th May and run through until Friday, 29th May. A link and QR Code will be provided to be able to participate in this survey on Monday.
Hearing directly from our parents and carers will help us understand what's working well and where improvements can be made. Participation in the survey is optional, your responses are anonymous, and it takes around 10 to 15 minutes to complete. We will share with you the link as soon as it goes live.
Kind regards
Kathy Nott
