Report
Welcome back, Fitzroy North families! We hope you had a restful and joyful break. It is wonderful to see our students returning with bright smiles and plenty of stories to share. Term 4 is a special time in our school year. It is a chance to celebrate how far our students have grown, to deepen their learning, and to enjoy the events that bring our community together. We are looking forward to a busy and rewarding term with you all.
Congratulations to all of our students who took part in this year’s Science Talent Search! It was inspiring to see so many curious young scientists asking big questions, testing their ideas and sharing what they discovered with such confidence. Each project showed creativity, persistence and a real love of learning. Thank you to the teachers who guided and encouraged our students, and to the families who supported them at home. We are so proud of every student who took on the challenge, and we hope this is just the beginning of their scientific journey. We have a number of our students who have received awards which will be handed out during assembly this week.
Over the school holidays, our grounds and buildings received some welcome attention. The veranda posts on the Junior Building have been freshly painted brown, and the shop fronts have been installed, with the final work to be completed soon. As part of the Greener Schools Program, the solar panels on the Hall and Library roofs have been upgraded, helping us move towards a more sustainable school. We also had McLeod Trees complete a safe tree audit, which will help us prepare for the possible removal of any high-risk trees and keep our school grounds safe for everyone. A big thank you to our Buildings and Grounds team for putting the shop fronts together and for all their hard work in looking after our school.
Nick and I are putting together a short video to share our 2026 data, including our NAPLAN results, the Attitudes to School Survey and the Parent Opinion Survey. We will also talk about our celebrations from the year and our goals and direction for 2027. Keep an eye out for it in the coming weeks. We are excited to share this with you and look forward to hearing what you think.
Our 2027 Prep transition program begins on Thursday. We are so excited to welcome our newest community members onto the school grounds and to help them get used to school life. It is a special time for our future Prep students and their families, and we can’t wait to meet them all.
A reminder that we have two student free days this term. Our Staff Professional Practice Day is on Monday 2nd November, and our Staff Report Writing Day is on Friday 20th November. Students do not attend school on these days.
Have a great week,
Joe
