Homework
Homework for Term 3 will continue to be on Google Classroom. It will follow a similar format since the beginning of the year, with some additional Mathematics homework added.
Most weeks Year 3/4 homework will consist of 4 components:
- Religion - this will be a page in their diary.
- Reading – All children are required to read 5 nights a week for at least 15 - 20 minutes.
This must be recorded in their diary with the book title and the page numbers read example
‘13 Story Treehouse’ pgs 1-25. ‘
Children must bring their diary to school every day to be checked and signed by an adult.
- Spelling – A minimum of 3 spelling activities must be completed every week.
- Mathematics - Due to feedback we have added extra Mathematics work. These extra activities are revision from what has been previously taught within the classroom. We envision this should only add an extra 5 - 10 minutes a week to the homework. If your child is struggling with this new section of the homework please let your teacher know so we can make adjustments.
Please Note: At different times throughout the year, the children will be given a project to complete over 2-3 weeks. At this time, there will be changes to the homework format.
If your child has not completed their homework please email your class teacher to let them know. We will also be instigating “Homework Club” on Fridays. This means if your child does not complete their homework and there is no email or note in the diary they will need to complete one spelling activity during recess or lunchtime on Friday. The purpose of the homework is to begin to prepare the students for Year 5/6 and high school, so it is suggested that together with your child you work out a schedule of when their homework can be completed.
