Achieve Program News

This term has been busy for the Year 7 to 10 Achieve programs.

In Year 7 Achieve, the students studied Multicultural Australia and looked at a range of different religions practised in Australia. Their studies culminated in a series of class expos where students set up information booths about their selected religion and did some peer teaching. It was wonderful to see so many of our Year 7s sharing their knowledge with one another. The range of expo booths was amazing, featuring some tasty food samples, interesting cultural artefacts and even a live snake!

The Year 8 Achieve students presented their Wilderness Retreat Business Plans in the week before examinations, showing their creativity, and we have some definite entrepreneurs amongst the cohort, so stay tuned for future endeavours.

In Year 9 Achieve students enjoyed an incursion from the Bendigo Interfaith Council (BIC). Representatives from the Buddhist, Christian, Jewish and Muslim communities attended the session to speak with the Year 9 students about various topics. This was an excellent opportunity for our students to ask questions and learn about different world perspectives. We are very fortunate to have such strong links with the Bendigo Interfaith Council and appreciate their willingness to share their collective knowledge and understanding with our students.

This term also featured an incursion sponsored by the Ecstra Foundation "Talk Money" program where the Year 9 and 10 Achieve students learned about "Making Money Work". We are excited to participate in Term Three's follow-up online session.
