INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
Maribyrnong College celebrated International Women's Day last Friday, reflecting on the theme: Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate progress.
‘By investing in women, we can spark change and speed the transition towards a healthier, safer, and more equal world for all. When women are given equal opportunities to learn, earn and lead – entire communities thrive.’ (International Women's Day 2024 - UN Women Australia)
Special guest, Carina Ford, spoke to our female students leaders and Legal Studies students. Carina is the Managing Partner of a large immigration law practice in Footscray and is on the Board of Directors for Hockey Victoria. Carina shared inspiring stories of her work in immigration law, spoke of her love of running, and the inspiration she gains from role models Cathy Freeman and Julia Gillard. A celebratory morning tea then provided an opportunity for our female student leaders to meet Carina one-on-one.
