TheirCare News

Hi parents, guardians, staff, and friends! Welcome to Week 5 of Term 2.
We would like to begin by acknowledging the Traditional Owners of the land, the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation, and pay our respect to their Elders, past, present, and emerging.
Chilly Monday, Warm Moments!
We kicked off our freezing Monday morning with our weekly chat, where everyone shared the exciting things they got up to over the weekend. This was followed by a lively round of our favourite UNO game, a fun Scrabble session, and an energetic group game that had everyone involved.
In the afternoon, the creativity continued as the children explored painting, focusing on the solar system. Meanwhile, others enjoyed outdoor play in the oval playing footy, soccer, cricket and down ball, Loom bands continue to be a popular activity, with many of the children enthusiastically getting involved in creating colourful and creative designs and they also created unique shapes using ironing beads. It was a vibrant and engaging morning filled with fun and collaboration.
Another Chilly Morning – Full of Fun and Activity!
Despite the cold weather, we had an amazing start to the day with 31 children joining us for the morning session! One of the children requested a game of Scrabble, which led to a friendly yet competitive match that everyone enjoyed. The children thoroughly enjoyed spending time colouring the newly introduced activity sheets, which were filled with exciting science-themed illustrations. These included detailed drawings of the solar system, adventurous astronauts. The engaging designs not only sparked their creativity but also encouraged their curiosity about space and scientific exploration, making the activity both fun and educational.
Theme of the Week - Exploring Science
This week, we’re sparking curiosity with some fun science-themed activities:
Melting Ice Experiment – Children will explore how ice melts using ice and warm water.
Lifecycle of a Butterfly – Learning about a butterfly’s transformation through crafts and stories.
Paper Plate Sun – Colouring bright sun crafts while discovering fun facts about our solar system. A fun and hands-on week of learning ahead.
Pupil of the Week
This week’s Pupil of the Week is Harriet in PAK. She has shown great care and consideration, consistently looking out for her peers especially when they get hurt or upset. Well done, Harriet. You should be proud of yourself!
