Apply now to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) for 2027
All Victorian government primary schools follow the statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline. The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child at a Victorian government primary school.
You can apply to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) in 2027 from Monday 20 April 2026.
What you need to do:
1. Contact our school 5633 1566 to book an optional school tour.
2. Download the Foundation (Prep) enrolment information pack from Enrolling in Foundation (Prep) This pack includes guidance on the application process.
3. Submit an enrolment application by Friday 31 July 2026.
Our school uses the Department of Education’s secure digital enrolment system called VicStudents. This means you can submit your Foundation (Prep) application online and receive updates through the system. If you have any questions about the online enrolment process, please contact our school. Paper enrolment application forms are also available on request.
4. You will be notified of the outcome of your application between Monday 3 August and Friday 14 August 2026.
5. If you receive an enrolment offer, you should accept the offer by Friday 28 August 2026.
6. Take part in school transition sessions during Term 4, 2026.
7. Prepare your child to start Foundation (Prep) from Thursday 28 January 2027.
Enrolment applications submitted after 31 July 2026 will be processed by our school as they are received, in accordance with the department’s Enrolment Policy.

School Drop-Off and Early Pick-Up Reminders
Morning Drop-Off Times
A friendly reminder that students are not permitted on school grounds before 8.20am as supervision is not available prior to this time. Our Breakfast Club opens at 8.20am each morning, and any students arriving at this time must go directly to the Breakfast Club to ensure they are supervised. For families requiring earlier drop-off, we offer Before and After School Care through TheirCare.
Late Arrivals
When your child receives a late pass from the office, we ask that they walk independently to their classroom. Parents are requested not to accompany their child to the classroom during this process.
Early Departures
To minimise disruption to classroom learning, please provide a note to your child's teacher in the morning if they need to leave early. This allows us to have your child ready at the office at the designated time. Please note that recess and lunchtime pick-ups without prior notice can result in significant delays, as locating students during this busy period can be challenging.
Tanjil Valley Art Show
The Tanjil Valley Art Show is set to return over the King’s Birthday long weekend in June, offering a wonderful celebration of creativity for the whole community. Open to artists of all ages and skill levels, the event provides a fantastic platform to showcase a diverse range of artistic talent.
For our school, the art show is a particularly exciting opportunity to highlight the incredible work being created by our students. It allows young artists to share their creativity beyond the classroom and connect with a wider audience, building confidence and pride in their achievements.
Mrs. Brown will be shortlisting student work early in the term, selecting pieces that best represent the talent and effort across our school. Students who wish to submit an artwork independently are also encouraged to do so. Entries can be completed via the QR code, with artworks then submitted to Mrs. Brown to be included in the Under 13 Youth collection for the exhibition.
Parents and carers are also invited to get involved as well. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or simply enjoy creating, the Tanjil Valley Art Show is a great event to share your work with the community.

Caring for Our Students: Introducing Our Revamped Sickbay
Breakfast Club
What a fantastic start to Term 2 it's been for the Breakfast Club at Traf Primary School! Our kitchen has been full of energy, serving up hot toast, cheesy toasties, warm Milos and cereal to make sure every student kicks off their day with a nutritious breakfast.
None of this would be possible without the incredible generosity of our sponsors. A huge thank you to IGA Trafalgar, Gracie's Bakery, Baker's Delight Mid Valley and Foodbank for their ongoing donations and support throughout the year — your contributions make a real difference to our school community.
As well as daily breakfasts, we continue to offer Care Packages for families who need a little extra support. If you or someone you know would benefit from a free Care Package, please pop into the School Office or have a chat with Mrs Marslen. All enquiries are welcome and completely private.
Donations of Milo or jam are greatly appreciated and can be dropped at the School Office. Thank you for your continued support of Breakfast Club! 🍞☕
Looking forward to seeing you all for Brekky!

Student Attitudes to School Survey (Years 4–6)
Over the coming weeks, students in Years 4–6 will have the opportunity to take part in the annual Student Attitudes to School Survey. This is an important statewide survey that gives students a voice about their experience at school—what helps them learn, how they feel about their relationships, and their overall sense of wellbeing.
At Trafalgar Primary School, we place a strong emphasis on listening to our students. The insights from this survey help us reflect on our practice and continue to strengthen the learning environment, wellbeing supports, and engagement opportunities we provide.
The data is used at both a school and system level to guide improvements and ensure we are meeting the needs of all learners.
The survey will be completed online at school between 11 May and 12 June, takes around 20–40 minutes, and is entirely voluntary. Students can skip any questions or stop at any time. All responses are confidential, and results are reported only in grouped form, ensuring no individual student can be identified.
Please take a moment to read the attached letter, which provides more detailed information, including how to opt out if you choose.
We value the opportunity for our students to share their perspectives, and we thank families for supporting this important process.

Mother's Day Stalls
The Parents & Friends Association will be hosting their annual Mother's Day Stall on Thursday 7th May from 9am–1pm. Can't make it? A second chance stall will be held during recess on Friday 8th May, giving students another opportunity to purchase a special gift for their mum, grandparent, carer, or other loved one.
This year, we have some exciting new gift ideas for students to bring home to their loved ones. Students will have the opportunity to purchase gifts ranging from $2 to $6, with a spending limit of $10 and 2 gifts per student.
Please ensure money is in a secure zip-lock bag or envelope to help prevent students losing their money on the day. Mother's Day this year will be on Sunday 10th May.

Seeking Raffle Prizes
Can't attend but still want to contribute? Local businesses or families wishing to donate a prize of any size can drop them into the school over the coming weeks. This could be a gift voucher, an item from your shop or business, something handmade or just a little something to make someone feel special.
Survey Winner
Thanks to those families that completed our survey across the last few months. We conducted a prize draw, and the winner of a $25 VISA gift card is Dusty's mum Amy from Grade 1. Enjoy!
We have compiled all feedback given through the survey, in person and via email and have used it to plan some exciting new and returning events. Watch this space as we plan the rest of the year.
