Principal's Report

Dear families and friends of MPW,

We had a fantastic day on Monday for our Book Week Dress Up Day. It was great to see our students and staff getting involved in the day, there were some amazing custom made costumes. There were two Grugs, a lot of Harry Potter themed witches and wizards, a couple of zombies, a Pippi Longstocking, Where’s Wally? and even a ‘Ken’ doll.

Thank you to those parents and students who correctly identified my costume as Gandalf the Grey from The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, I did manage to get several Dumbeldore questions (which isn’t too far of the mark).

For the remainder of the week there is an opportunity to celebrate books, reading and a love of literature.

Bunnings BBQ Fundraiser

A big thank you to the parent volunteers who assisted the running of our Bunnings BBQ fundraiser on Saturday. The joint effort of parents ensured that onions and sausages were cooked and selling hot until 4pm.  It was a successful day, the weather was perfect and there was a steady flow of people coming to support. Thank you also to those parents and families who came down to Bunnings to support by buying a sausage or two!

SEDA Basketball Clinics

It was great to see students from SEDA come out last Friday to run basketball clinics with all our year level teams from F/1 to 5/6. Students had a great time outside developing their basketball skills. The clinics run for another two weeks on Fridays. Thanks to Bree for her organisation of this opportunity.

Offsite Emergency Drill next week

Next week, we will be holding our offsite emergency drill. For this drill we head over to the Argyle Street park to assemble safely. We will send out a communication to parents after the event to let you know how we go.

This will be our third emergency drill for this year, with one more to go next term.

Parent Opinion Survey Reminder

A reminder to those families who were randomly generated to participate in the Parent Opinion Survey, that the survey is open until 8th September.  If you received an invitation to participate, we encourage you to complete the survey to provide valuable feedback to the school.

Cybersafety Learning – Susan McLean

Thank you to those families who have expressed interest in the school booking Susan McLean for a parent information session regarding Cybersafety. We have had a fantastic response and are currently trying to confirm a date with Susan for Term 4 and will announce this once finalised. The school will also secure Susan to run a workshop with our 3/4 and 5/6 students to further equip them with important knowledge about their use of technology. This is an important learning opportunity to support your children both at school and at home with their use of technology (now and in the future).

Hats are back for Spring

Finally, as we move out of the colder months of the year and back into (hopefully) some warmer days, from next week we ask that students again bring their hats to school.  As part of our SunSmart policy, students are required to wear their hats outside. We will remind students at Monday’s assembly.

Regards,

Jarrod Sutton
