Many Hands Make Light Work!!
It was a glorious sunny morning last Sarurday 10 October for our last working Bee for the year. We had a sensational group of parents who came ready to suppprt our school and get the jobs done. With their support and energy we managed to tick off all the tasks on our list in record time.
We managed to....
- place broken furniture into the skip.
- weed the yarning circle garden.
- top up the sandpit with fresh sand.
- create a new garden beside the hall exit doors. Huge thanks to Rita for her leadership.
- Weed the garden in front of the hall and get the bushes pruned into shape.
- Weed and mulch the car park garden.
- Put together 4 new garden beds and fill them with soil.
- weed the community garden and add mulch.
- Add chicken wire around the chicken coop.
- Fix a hole in the fence.
- Remove weeds from the long jump running track.
Weed the brick tiles in the cente of the garden
The working bee ended with a traditional sausage sizzle cooked and served by our P&F. A huge thanks to all our parent, staff and student helpers. You are a terrific group of parents. Special thanks to those who have completed their last ever working bee at SFS. You are brilliant and we appreciate your assistance.
Rejuvenating our SFS Student Toilets
Over the last two weeks the Learning Space 1 toilets have been receiving some love. Over the holidays the partitions and cisterns were removed. Last week the lino was stripped and left to dry out. Work began on fixing cracks and painting walls. This week the floor was prepared and the laying of new lino commenced. Next Monday the painters will return to add a final coat and we will be ready for Dave our plumber to return the cisterns and put the partitions back up. The rejuvenated toilet block will be ready for use later next week.
Parents of boys can help us out by teaching their sons to correctly use a urinal.
The lino in front of the urinals in LS2 and LS3 boys will also be replaced during the next school holidays to minimise disruption to toilet access across two spaces.
School Fees for 2027
In planning for 2027, our focus has been to ensure we can continue to provide the high-quality learning opportunities, care and support that families value. At the same time, we are committed to keeping costs as low as possible for families. After reviewing our financial position, and in consultation with the School Advisory Council, we have agreed and ratified that in 2027 there will be an increase in the school fees and student levy charges. We know that family budgets are under real pressure, and we never make fee decisions lightly. While our fees will naturally need to reflect normal cost-of-living movements over time, this adjustment ensures a stable, dependable operational foundation for our school. Most importantly, it ensures our classrooms remain focused on delivering the personal care, quality teaching, and attention your child deserves.
A Fee Agreement form must be filled in and adhered to each year so that families are in compliance with their enrolment.
The 2027 School Fee Agreement form will be sent out on Monday 19th October and needs to be returned by 12 February 2027. The Fee agreement needs to be signed by the parent and/or guardian responsible for paying the fees and levies, along with how they will be paid.
Please note all student levies need to be paid in full by 15th March 2027.
The School strongly recommends families to engage in a direct debit or credit card deduction (options 1 or 2) as this helps families manage their financial commitment and ensures that the account is settled within the required timeframe.
Your continued support of the school and the education it provides our students is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your ongoing partnership, trust, and shared commitment to our school community.
Class Placements for 2027
Our teachers will soon commence the complex tasks of deciding class placement of students for 2027. Thus it is important that you have informed the school if your child will not be returning before we commence the task of placement. Please email principal@sfslynbrook.catholic.edu.au to inform us of your plans at your earliest convenience. We would appreciate an email by Friday 23rd October or earlier if this has already been decided.
Teachers consider a number of factors when developing preliminary Learning Space and Home Group lists. They consider academic ability; special skills, needs and talents; social competencies; students who work well together and students who may not work well together. Skills needed for building new relationships are also an important part of our educative process. Our children will get asked to name three friends and we will consider their requests and place them with at least one friend in their learning space. Parent input based strictly on student learning needs, is also considered.
Parents who have specific concerns about their child's learning needs for 2027, are invited to provide written information via email to the principal.
Please be aware that parent request for particular teachers will not be accepted.
Please email principal@sfslynbrook.catholic.edu.au by 3pm Friday 23rd October 2026.
A request is taken into consideration with other factors but is not guaranteed. Please note that we are not able to consider information received after the 23/10/2026, as once class list are made up they are extremely difficult, if not impossible to change. The ultimate responsibility for student teacher allocation rests with the Principal. Our school processes are most comprehensive and professional with decisions always made in the best interest of our students.
Parents will be informed about their child's Home Group Teacher in the Semester two report in December. Students will meet their Home Group teacher for 2027 on Tuesday 15th December at our whole school orientation morning.
School Uniform
Please note black leggings are not to be worn with the girls summer dress.
Have a great weekend. Enjoy the sunshine.
