Grade 3 | Clever Classes

In Grade 3 Blackwood we have started a novel study on Charlotte’s Web by E.B.White. As part of this study we have worked with new vocabulary exploring each word's meaning, what they might look like, some synonyms and antonyms and how each one can be used in a sentence. We have completed daily reading fluency, comprehension and writing sessions and participated in a Reader’s Theatre’. We have looked at some concepts involved with writing and novel study, such as characterisation, exploring settings, themes and symbolism. So far, our favourite task has been learning how to pronounce and identify ‘anthropomorphism’ in novels and movies, this has been lots of fun. We are currently up to chapter 10 and are thoroughly enjoying this book and the learning tasks that go along with studying the novel.
