Road Safety

Our school drop off/pick up zone is a busy place before and after school and it is important that we ensure the safety of our students, staff and school community. We would like all students and staff to take note of road rules and expectations during these times. Please have a discussion with your child/children around road safety, particularly around the school.

Parking, Drop Off and Pick Up Times

Our carpark is a very busy and sometimes, conjested area during these times. We ask that you are mindful of your speed in and around the carpark as there are many toddlers, pre-school and school aged children in this area during these times.

Riding/Walking and Scooting to School (Active Travel to School)

At Toolamba PS, we promote active travel to school and it is important to discuss with your children about safe active travel to school:

  • Riding/Scooting – all students must wear a helmet and ride a roadworthy bike to school (working brakes, etc). Please discuss the route that your child travels to and from school. Encourage riding in pairs or small groups and use the crossings at school as well as the crossing in Wren St, when crossing the road.

Students are not to ride bikes or scooters in the school grounds and will walk them to and from the crossing.

  • Walking - Please discuss the route that your child travels to school, encourage walking in pairs or small groups and  and use the crossings at school as well as in Wren St, when crossing the road. Please do not walk through the car park space, remain on the footpath around the carpark and the pedestrian crossings.

We understand that the above is followed most of the time and we thank you for ensuring the safety of our local students and community members.
