Term 4 Week 4
Rossmoyne Rummage - Major Fundraiser!
On Sunday 18 October, St Mary’s participated in our third Rossmoyne Rummage event. We were delighted to be involved once again, as it provides a wonderful opportunity to showcase the incredible community of students and families we have at St Mary’s.
It was also wonderful to have all three levels of government come and show their interest and support. Thank you to Ged Kearney, Kat Theophanous and Emily Dimitriadis for joining us on the day.
An event like Rossmoyne Rummage takes a tremendous amount of teamwork, with many people generously giving their time, coordinating behind the scenes, volunteering on the day and donating items. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event such a success. Your generosity, enthusiasm and support are greatly appreciated and truly reflect the wonderful community spirit we share at St Mary’s.
We are excited to announce that our Profit was $3,334 (an increase of $824 from 2025)! The P&F will work closely with Mary to determine how these funds are best spent to assist our students and school.
Thank you’s
Our Coordinators for this event contributed a lot of time and energy behind the scenes to be ready for the day. We would like to thank each of our coordinators:
Natasha - Lead Coordinator & Socials - Natasha has led this event since its inception, she has definitely left big shoes to fill. Natasha has been amazing at promoting the event and reaching our wider community. Natasha’s enthusiasm, leadership and effort is second to none and she will be greatly missed as she hands over this role for next year.
Kathryn & Delia - Volunteers and Operations - Kathryn coordinated our team of wonderful volunteers across the day, also leading on the donation and sourcing of supplies from our school community. Kathryn, together with Delia also made all the operations happen – from trestles and gas to EFTPOS!
Robyn - Scarecrow design - Otto the Octopus was thanks to many tireless hours of work by Robyn. He had a lovely story and connection to the “Darebin Octopus School Program. Otto also brought home the “Best Group Winner” award on the day.
Nicole & Dave - Sausage Sizzle - headed up the BBQ’s and sausages serving. There was a constant line for a snag and they were kept busy all day.
Bek & Sean - Drinks and Cash takings - This year Bek and Sean headed up the payment station for drinks and sausages. This worked well and they were very busy all day.
Lisa - Cake Stall - thank you to Lisa for again heading up this stall. It is always a high profit stall for the event and Lisa carelessly has everything well organised.
Simone - Lucky Dip - We also brought back the good old school favourite, the Lucky Dip, which was a hit with the children and added a lovely touch of nostalgia and fun to our Rossmoyne Rummage stalls. Simone was also a fabulous help picking up any extra supplies that were needed on the day.
Emily - Preloved Books & Toys - Emily bravely took on this stall again - we thank her for her organisation and decision making.
Jules - Fun Lab - a new stall addition for 2026! A massive thank you to Jules & Dean for doing all the prep work and stocking up on glam items. This was a welcome addition by many children and thank you to our school children who assisted.
Terese - Marketing - A big thank you to Terese for creating all the posters and flyers to help promote our Rossmoyne Rummage event. Terese offers her time so generously and always does such a great job with all our visual marketing items.
Linda, Mary & Michelle - School Promotion - this year we added a school tour led by Mary and Michelle. We thank Mary and Michelle for their assistance in opening and closing up for us on the day and their support and all the support of the St Mary’s staff who offered help on the day and purchased items. Linda was a vital support assisting with collating and handing out school goodie bags throughout the day.
Parish - Our sincere thank you goes out to Father Shabin, Margaret in the Parish office and the parishioners for supporting our event. Without their support our day would not be such a success, from doing some baking, purchasing food after Mass and being so accommodating with their space.
Sporting Clinics - We also introduced two sporting clinics as part of our day which included a basketball and football clinic being run. Our thanks go to Coach Eli from Northern Rebels Basketball Club and Coach Stu from North Brunswick Junior Football Club for running these clinics. If anyone is looking to join either of these sports these are both fantastic community inclusive clubs.
Pumpin Coffee Co - Another welcome addition this year, Pumpin Coffee Co donated 10% of their takings for the day. They were wonderful to deal with and would highly recommend for future events. Thanks to Nicole for getting them on board. They have already been locked in for our 2027 event! Check them out https://www.instagram.com/pumpincoffeeco
We would also like to thank our sponsors who jumped on board to support us for the day:
Lollipops Playland & Cafe - Preston
The Gourmet Meat Rack - Northcote Plaza
Martino’s Darebin Garden- Thornbury
Kitchen Warehouse - Preston
Also a thank you to Mickey D’s Gourmet Meats at Northcote Plaza who supplied 700 sausages at a discounted price.
