School Council Meeting 18th December 2023

School Council met on the evening of 18th December for the final meeting for 2023.

As a regular standing item, Jarrod provided his update on Child safety, noting discussions had been had with the project managers ensuring behaviour is appropriate for a school ground (notably appropriate language being used at all times).

Jarrod also provided his Principals update including updates on the capital works (goodbye Big Adventure), the successful Graduation ceremony, Grade 5 students being provided with fishing kits and preparation the final assembly of the year.

The Resources committee reported on the financial performance of the school being in line with expectations, and recommended an indicative budget for 2024 be approved (which it was).

We were provided with an update on from the community engagement group. Feedback that earlier notice for key events would be more effective has been implemented, including notice of the Basket Tea, Movie Night and opt-ins for class parent communication. The Parent Rep group will also be providing improved 1-pager to provide more information on how things work at Moonee Ponds West to the school community.

Our thanks to Jarrod and Sandra for ensuring the school has run smoothly despite the challenges, including preparing for the capital works program in particular!.

Nominations for School Council will be held early in Term 1, so please consider asking any of the existing members for more information if you have an interest, or ask Sandra (School Council Secretary) for an introduction. We'd love to chat!
