ASHBURTON FESTIVAL AND THE GREAT ST MICHAEL'S CAKE STALL
If you even spent an hour at last Sunday's Ashburton Festival you would have to agree it was fabulous! Despite the sudden, intense, brief downpour, the weather was mostly on our side and all were seen to be enjoying a fun day out. Our St Michael's cake stall was an amazing success again, with every donation sold and a queue of people at the snow cones all day long.
Â
Congratulations to Lucas E, Vicky M, Elise D and Abbey D who bravely competed in Ashburton's Got Talent! It was so wonderful to see our students giving it their best and they did our school and their families proud!!
Â
We wish to thank everyone who was part of bringing this day together, from the organisers behind the scenes to the huge variety of donations to the helpers on the day. We also thank the partners and friends who took care of children while others were on the stall. Please take some time to view our 'official thank yous and more photos of the Ashburton festival on the St Michael's PFA News page.

YEAR SIX ASSEMBLY
Last week we saw our Year Six students presented with their Rugby tops and receive their badges for leadership. We also witnessed our SRC Representatives receive their badges at this assembly. Â SRC Representatives hold their roles for two terms (first semester) and then classes will vote again early in Term Three for others to take on this role.Â
Â
We wish to thanks Shelly Davis for the work she puts into the organising of the Year Six Rugby tops each year; assisting with the design, making arrangements with our uniform shop and ensuring they are here on time for our students. The students are so excited about this special honour and we are so pleased to see how amazing they look!
St Michael's Biennial Performance - Please mark this on your calendar now! WEDNESDAY 8TH OCTOBER 2025 will be the date of our biennial school performance, in which all students will take part. We will rehearse throughout the school day and our performance will be held in the evening for families to attend. Please keep this date free!
Â
- Year Five/Six Social Gathering - For all parents and guardians of children in Years Five and Six, please keep FRIDAY 28TH MARCH free in your calendar as the class reps are planning something. More news to come.Â
 FEES & LEVIES
For families who have not yet completed the Payment Commitment form, we ask that you do so as soon as possible. Copies of the form are available from the school office. A reminder to please ensure we have the most correct email address for you too.Â
Â
OPEROO FOR PARTNERS
As we know, Operoo only allows one parent to set up, enter and edit information in their child's Operoo account. There is a way, however, that another parent is able to access the information so that both parents can keep abreast of what's happening. Â See the details here as to How to Share a Profile in Operoo.

ST MICHAEL'S FAMILY FUN FAIR UPDATE
Last year, the FFF committee shared with our community the possibility of hosting the St. Michael’s Family Fun Fair this March. After our meetings in December and January to discuss plans, changes in our team members' commitments—including work, family and personal responsibilities—have led us to the decision to postpone the event for now.
However, as a committee, we remain dedicated to planning and will continue exploring the best possible time to hold the fair. If you are interested in joining the committee, please reach out to Annie Herbison at aherbison@smashburton.catholic.edu.auÂ
Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding.
Â
GLEN IRIS DISTRICT SWIMMING CARNIVAL
This week's District Swimming Carnival at Harold Holt Pool saw 24 St Michael's students who had qualified with the times they made at our school carnival.Â
Â
What a fantastic day it was! Our students competed valiantly, showing great determination and sportsmanship. A special congratulations to Anna Rorke and Edward Betros for qualifying for the Boroondara Division Swimming—Edward in Breaststroke and Anna in Freestyle and Backstroke.
Â
As a school, we achieved 4th place in the Aggregate Award and 6th place in the Total Points Award—an incredible effort by everyone involved!
Â
We wish Anna and Edward the best of luck in the next stage and look forward to seeing how they perform!

YEAR SIX 2025, GRADUATION COMMITTEE
In Term Four we will be making arrangements for celebrations for our Year Six students as they graduate Primary School. I invite any parents of Year Six students to indicate their interest in being part of a committee to plan the Graduation Night celebrations for the students. Please email me no later than the end of this term at aherbison@smashburton.catholic.edu if you would like to be on this committee.

PANCAKE TUESDAY
Given that this year Shrove (Pancake) Tuesday is the same day as photo day, our PFA has offered to arrange a Pancake Pick Up & Play from 3.15pm. On Tuesday 4th March parents may collect their child from the classroom, collect a pancake at the BBQ which will be placed on the Soccer courts and the children can enjoy a play on the biggie. Classroom teachers will bring remaining students from their classes to enjoy a pancake and biggie play. Look forward to seeing you there!
