Principal's Report
Dear families and friends of MPW
We are now just over halfway through the term, and I hope everyone had an enjoyable long weekend last week. Our Curriculum Day provided time for teachers to work on their assessment and reporting writing obligations for the end of the year.
Although a shorter week last week, it was still a busy one. Our Year 2 had their Billy Cart incursion on Wednesday. They had a lot of fun designing and testing their Billy Carts.
The year 6 students engaged in an Organisation based incursion, supporting them to consider the transition to Secondary School next year. Our F/1 classes headed to CERES for an excursion last Thursday, although they came back a little tired, they also had a fun day of learning. And, the 3/4s had a Science themed incursion on Friday to wrap up the week. Our 3/4s also have an upcoming excursion to the Zoo on Monday. A lot of hands on, authentic learning experiences to support students understandings and knowledge in this term’s Inquiry units.
Congratulations to Peppa in year 6 for making it to the State Athletics Finals. It is a tremendous effort to qualify and compete at the State level. Peppa presented a report at assembly yesterday about her achievement in coming 6th in her event. Well done Peppa!
New Little Adventure Courtyard
The new place space has been a bit hit the past two weeks, since opening. The new sandpit has been particularly popular. We are looking into a sand pit cover for the space to protect the sandpit from rubbish, leaves and debris from out of hours. We hope to have something organised soon.
While it has also been a big hit before and after school as well, we will be continuing to open and close the external gates at our usual times and ask that parents wishing to continue to play out of hours after school move across to the Tiger Turf and Big Adventure side of the school from 3:45pm.
MVIMP Combined Concert
Our MVIMP students will be performing alongside their peers from Moonee Ponds PS, Ascot Vale PS and Ascot Vale West PS next Thursday night, 21st November, for the 2024 Combined School Concert. The concert is held at the Clock Tower, which provides an authentic stage experience for the students to perform.
Students have been rehearsing with the other schools the past two weeks in preparation for next week. We look forward to sharing back about their performances in the next newsletter.
There will be two performances on Thursday 21 November, a Matinee Performance at 12.30pm and an Evening Performance at 7pm.

2025 School Structure
In the last newsletter we confirmed our anticipated school structure for next year. We will be having 14 classes. Factors that are considered include our enrolment numbers at each year level, student needs, our staffing profile and the school’s budget.
Taking all of this into account the structure the school can operate at for 2025 will be: 3 Foundation classes, 4 Year 1/2 classes; 4 Year 3/4 classes and 3 Year 5/6 classes.
F/1 Activity Night
We have our F/1 Activity night coming up on Thursday. This evening finalises our camping program for the year, where our junior students return after school to participate in some activities and enjoy a pizza dinner at school. We look forward to a fun and exciting night for our F/1's.
Bunnings BBQ Fundraiser
On Saturday, we have our annual Bunnings BBQ Fundraiser at Bunnings Maribyrnong. Thank you to the Fundraising committee for their organisation of the day, and those families who have volunteered some time to support the running of the stall on Saturday.
Other upcoming events for the school include the 2024 Colour Fun Run on 6th December, (Fundrasing for the Fun Run closes on November 29th), Whole School Orientation Day on 10th December and Year 6 Graduation on 17th December.
Regards,
