DRUMBEAT Program

Students from Year 6 were given the opportunity to participate in the DRUMBEAT Program this term. DRUMBEAT stands for Discovering Relationships Using Music, Beliefs, Emotions, Attitudes, and Thoughts and is facilitated by Centacare staff from New England North West.

The weekly program uses rhythm, specifically hand drumming, to help students explore important social and emotional skills. They are working on regulating their emotions, empathising with others, and working together as a team. Best of all, they are having fun with music. It’s amazing to see how these students have embraced the experience.

Narrabri High School Transition

The Year 6 students enrolling at Narrabri High School next year have attended their second high school transition day. They travelled by bus from St Francis Xavier’s to Narrabri High School. As part of this experience, they enjoyed a variety of fun activities across various subjects. They showcased their practical skills by building a flat-pack toolbox in Woodwork followed by Art class where they expressed themselves by creating a unique character design on a canvas. Their Food Technology lesson was a sweet success as they whipped up delicious rocky road treats. They were excited to take all the items home to show and share with their families.

These sessions provided a glimpse into high school life and the students are looking forward to their next full day of transition.
