Year 5/6 First Aid Incursion.
On Monday, 27 October, our Year 5/6 students took part in a valuable first aid learning experience. We were very fortunate to have a parent from our school community, who is a qualified paramedic, volunteer her time to teach students the importance of understanding basic first aid procedures.
Students were introduced to the initial step of the DRSABCD action plan — Danger — which focuses on ensuring personal safety and the safety of others before assisting someone in need. They also received a small CPR safety pack to support their learning. We encourage families to discuss the pack with their child and practise the key steps involved in responding calmly and effectively during an emergency.
This incursion provided students with practical knowledge and greater confidence in recognising and responding to first aid situations. We extend our sincere thanks to Joh McGillivray for generously sharing her expertise and supporting our students’ learning.
