SWPBS Mascot

Congratulations to Alanna Rushford in year one who designed our SWPBS (School Wide Positive Behaviour Support) mascot. Alannah’s idea centred on our four houses, using the colours and characteristics to draw us all together.

The team then worked with Alannah’s drawing to create a model that can be easily reproduced on documents.

You will see ‘Bee Bee’ on posters around the school soon, representing our new behaviour expectations of “Be Respectful”, “Be Responsible”, and “Be Safe”.

Congratulations JJ- third is State Long Jump!

Congratulations to JJ who recently came third in the state long jump in his age group. This is an incredible achievement, and we are so proud of him.

Fantastic effort, JJ!

School Attendance and punctuality, taking holidays in term times

We are concerned about the amount of time students miss learning at school when they arrive late to school and take long holidays during term times. Absences like these can affect student learning significantly.

 Everyday Counts

Going to school every day is the single most important part of your child’s education. Students learn new things at school every day – missing school puts them behind.

School is better when your child is there

We all want our students to get a great education, and the building blocks for a great education begin with students coming to school each and every day when they are well. Please, of course, do not send

your child to school when they are unwell. If students miss school regularly, they miss out on learning the fundamental skills that will set them up for success in the later years of school.

When children are away, they miss out on learning that leads to the next step, which creates gaps in learning. In addition, friendships can move on, and children feel left out when they have been absent and not part of things at school. This has a profound effect on a child’s mental health.

Missing just one day per fortnight equates to missing four weeks of school over a year.

Calm Kids Passion Projects

I was fortunate to attend the Calm Kids Passion Project Presentation night last Wednesday evening. It was great to see parents and students presenting on something that was a passion for both of them, learning about each other and their similarities.

Thank you to the students whose parents were unable to attend but still came along and confidently presented to the group.

Thanks to Mrs Bonazza for sourcing this program for our students.

Are you leaving the school?

Are you moving house and need to move to a school closer to home? If so, please advise the office as soon as possible so that we can finalise teaching staff and classes for 2026.

Halloween Disco

Congratulations to the Parents and Friends Association on the successful Halloween Disco last week. The students had a ball, and all looked fabulous in their costumes. So did the teachers!

Thanks to Mrs Newell for adding to the spooky atmosphere with her Haunted House. This is always amazing and great fun for students and families.

World Teacher’s Day

Finally, a huge thank you to our amazing teachers as we celebrated World Teachers’ Day last week. Your commitment, creativity, and genuine passion for learning make Bundoora such a special place for our students to grow. As Bob Talbert once said, “Teaching kids to count is fine, but teaching them what counts is best.” Thank you for making sure our students know what truly counts.

Have a wonderful weekend!
