Principal's Report

Welcome to Term 2!
I hope that everyone enjoyed the wonderful weather over the break and that you're feeling refreshed and recharged for a great term ahead.
Commemorating ANZAC Day
Our College Captains, Lily and Valentino, did a wonderful job of representing the College at the Beaumaris RSL ANZAC Day March and Service on Sunday, 20 April. We held a moving ANZAC Assembly at the College on Thursday, 24 April to honour the selfless heroes who served our country. A special thank you to Amy M for playing the Last Post and the Reveille, and to Chris B, Ella F, Garion L, Lily G-P, Val B, Kate O, Kevin C, and our guest speaker, Mr Clarke Martin, for their heartfelt contributions.
My speech (included below) was centred around the story of Stan and Harold Bisset that I relayed during our 2023 Kokoda Trek experience.
Thank you to Ms Hunter-Smith and our Community Liaison Student Leaders, Celia and Adam, for organising a fantastic BBQ & ANZAC Biscuit Stall which raised a total of $780.00 for the 2025 ANZAC Appeal. This would not have been possible without the generous donation of baked biscuits from our wonderful students and families. Thank you also to the families who purchased ANZAC Day merchandise from the office, further supporting this important cause.
A Heart-warming Update from the Holly and Bianca GoFundMe Page
Those who donated will have seen the recent update from the Holly and Bianca GoFundMePage. Recently, initiatives supported by Holly and Bianca's community have led to impactful national campaigns on drink spiking and methanol poisoning awareness. Holly's legacy continues to inspire positive change to safeguard others and promote safety in travel.
Please see the Shining Bright for Holly & Bianca page of this newsletter for information on the upcoming Commemorative Matches and Online Charity Auction.
Year 8 Camp
Our Year 8 students had a wonderful time at the Summit Camp last week. Camps are a great way for students to build connections and resilience. Thank you to our wonderful GOAL mentors for supporting our students and providing them with this valuable opportunity. We are looking forward to our Year 9 ‘Choose your own adventure’ program at the end of this term. More photos can be found on the Year 8 Camp page of this newsletter.
State Swimming Championships
Congratulations to our talented swimmers on their outstanding results (8 X Gold – 2 X Silver – 1X Bronze medals!) at last week's State Swimming Championships. You can read all about them on Our Latest Facebook & Instagram Posts page of this newsletter. Thanks to Mr Pinto for coordinating and supporting the team.
Every Day Counts - The importance of regular school attendance
At Beaumaris Secondary College, we prioritise regular school attendance. We will work with families to ensure students are in class with their peers and teachers and enjoying all the benefits that brings.
Attending school every day means experiencing what counts – the learning, friendship, fun and opportunities that can shape your child's future.
We understand that there are times when your child will need to miss school but to ensure minimal disruption to their education, please consider scheduling family holidays or medical/dental appointments outside of school time. If your child is well enough to attend but is worried about friendships, schoolwork or exams, please encourage them to come to school. Avoiding school can make these feelings worse and can create a negative pattern of behaviour.
If your child is having difficulty attending school, talk to their GOAL Mentor about getting support.
We know that parents and carers can be juggling challenges daily to get your children to school. If your child must miss school, notify us as soon as possible via Compass so we can work together to support them.
For more information about the importance of everyday attendance, see Attendance and Missing School.
Remember, Every Day Counts.
Astronomy Night
Thank you to Mr Barnard-Green and the Galaxy Club students for organising the recent Astronomy Night. It's wonderful to see the telescope purchased with the Curriculum Innovation Contributions being put to great use.
If you haven't finalised or opted into a payment plan for your children's 2025 Curriculum Contributions, we invite you to do so. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps make a meaningful impact. To make your contribution, please log into Compass or contact the school office for details on payment options. Contributions to the Building and Library Fund are tax-deductible.

Start of Term Reminders
Your Child’s Medical Information
As we start a new term, we kindly remind you to ensure that your child’s medical information is up to date. Having accurate information on file is crucial for providing appropriate care and support to your child.
If there have been any changes to your child's medical history, allergies or required medications, please advise the office at office@beaumarissc.vic.edu.au or 8569 9200.
Accident Insurance
Parents/carers are reminded that:
- Parents/carers of students who do not have student accident insurance, are responsible for paying the cost of medical treatment for injured students, including the cost of ambulance attendance or transport, as well as any other transport costs; and
- Parents/carers can purchase insurance policies from commercial insurers.
Term 2 Curriculum Day (Student-free)
A Curriculum Day will be held on Thursday, 22 May. Please note that students are not required to attend school on this day, and there will be no scheduled classes or supervision.
Thank you for your continued support.
