26/27 RSC Club Captains / Senior & Junior Captains - Selection Process

CLOSING DATE EXTENDED - NOW 5TH JUNE 2026
It is that time of year again where our new Club Captains will be selected and announced at our Presentation Night on 25th July.
At Ringwood Swimming Club, we believe our captains should be athletes who consistently demonstrate responsibility, commitment, leadership, and a positive influence within the club environment.
In previous seasons, swimmers have self-nominated and the coaching team has selected the successful candidates. This season, to make the process more objective, balanced, and inclusive, we will be considering four key areas as part of the selection process this season:
- Swimmer Nominations: Swimmers will have the opportunity to anonymously nominate a teammate they believe would be suitable for the role based on leadership qualities, attitude, commitment, and positive influence within the club.
- Performance Consideration: We will also consider personal best performances using World Aquatics (formerly FINA) points. This helps identify the top-performing male and female swimmers within each category and recognises athletic achievement and progression.
- Self-Nominations: Swimmers are invited to nominate themselves for a leadership role using the attached application form.
- Coaching Staff Input: The coaching team’s observations, feedback, and final discretion will remain an important part of the process. Coaches are in a unique position to assess leadership, attitude, consistency, work ethic, and the ability to positively contribute to the club culture on a daily basis.
Our captains play a very important role within RSC. They are role models for younger swimmers, a source of support for teammates, and an important part of building a strong, positive, and connected club culture through their daily presence, commitment, and leadership.
Please find attached the role descriptions for Club Captains, Senior Captains, and Junior Captains, as well as the self-nomination form.
Self-nomination forms can be completed by swimmers and emailed to admin@ringwoodswimmingclub.org.au or handed to Kay or Carlos by Friday 5th June 2026.
Swimmers will also be provided with peer nomination forms at training (also attached) and can complete and return these to Carlos by Friday 5th June 2026.
We look forward to continuing to develop leadership opportunities within the club and thank all families for their ongoing support.
