Literacy Overview
This term in reading, we are exploring the text Blueback by Tim Winton. We are identifying language features, clarifying vocabulary, making connections and answering comprehension questions. We will also investigate poetry, through making inferences and visualising what we read.
In writing, we are exploring the writing process by planning, drafting, revising, editing and publishing narratives. Towards the end of the term, students will experiment with using poetic devices in their own poetry.
In speaking and listening, we are discussing various texts in which characters, events and settings are portrayed in different ways. We are practising sharing our point of view when discussing different topics.
Numeracy Overview
This term in number we are completing the following topics; place value up to 10,000 and fractions,
This term in statistics and probability we are completing the following topics; data representation and interpretation, surveys and investigations and chance experiments
This term in measurement and geometry we are completing the following topics; units of time and duration and 2D and symmetry properties.
Inquiry Overview
This term in inquiry we are continuing our Permaculture In Primary Schools (PIPS) program. Students will have a chance to enrich their learning as they become members of various gardening teams; Recyclers, Green Thumbs and Foodies.
This term we will explore Unit 4: Applying Self-Regulation and Accepting Feedback and Unit 5: Using and Valuing Renewable Resources. During these units we will focus on the character strengths, honesty and self-control.
