NAIDOC WEEK
Students enjoyed learning how Indigenous people gathered resources from the bush to grind up and make paint, medicine, and food. Their knowledge about plants is enlightening and the use of plants resourceful.
This week students listened to the story; “CIRCLES OF LIFE” written by Greg Dreise about Indigenous artist Kamilaroi. The artist shows how materials are collected to make the paint. The “Thank you” circles created in the story are inbuilt and each layer represents father sky, mother earth, ancestors, elders, animals, children, and the future. The circles have a strong connection to family, ancestry, and the environment. The message here is that it is the responsibility of each generation to leave the environment in good shape for the future generations.
While we have been on holidays our produce has been growing well. We will soon harvest cauliflower to try grated as rice, sliced, and roasted in the oven or as a soup.
