A WARM WELCOME BACK FOR TERM 3

Dear parents, carers, and students,

We have well and truly hit the ground running this week!  It will again be another busy term with lots to look forward to in the coming 10 weeks.

Term 3 has started with our NAIDOC week theme.  Teachers have integrated this theme into their weekly programs.  On Wednesday the school looked full of colour as students dressed in the colours of the First Nations flags.  Later this term, our whole staff will participate in cultural learning at Willum Warrain in Hastings.  Naranga School is committed to celebrating and recognising the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Today was a very exciting day for our year 10 and 11 students as they began their work experience placements.  Work experience is a short-term placement in an employment setting that gives our students some insight into industry and the workplace.  It gives our students an opportunity to develop employability skills, explore career options, understand employer expectations and increase their independence and maturity.  There is so much work that happens in the background to make these work experience placements a reality.  And thank you also to all of the businesses that provide placements for Naranga students, it is greatly appreciated.

In term 3 we have a number of special events to look forward to including Green and Gold Dress Day next Friday, 100 Days of School for our prep students, the Book Fair in week 8, two school camps, our aerobics team at Nationals and finishing the term with Footy Colours Day.

As warmer weather draws nearer, I'm hopeful that our weekly Assembly can return to our normal location in the amphitheatre.  As always, families are very welcome at our Assembly.  My door is always open as well if you want to discuss anything about school or just say hello.  Later this term, we'll be sending out our annual Parent Survey.  I encourage you all to take a few minutes to fill out the survey as it gives me valuable information about how to make our school even better.

Have a great term,
