Term 1 in Music 

We are all very excited to be learning in our new music space. Located in the new Eagle Building, the music room is a spacious, soundproof classroom filled with a wide range of high-quality instruments that inspire creativity and collaboration.

All grades have commenced the term by establishing positive relationships and routines that promote valuing and respecting each other, the space, and the appropriate use of instruments. Students are putting this into practise as they explore musical possibilities, create original and learned music, and are provided with opportunities to perform their work to their classmates.

Preps

Welcome to your first term of school and welcome to Music! This term is about building routines, growing confidence, and developing a love of music. Students will sing, move, and explore rhythm through fun, structured activities and play. We will practise using our singing voices, keeping a steady beat, and playing simple percussion instruments.

Years 1 to 6

Students from Years 1 to 6 will be spending the rest of term revising and expanding upon a repertoire of symbol and chart recognition, developing important skills for lifelong music learning. We will play and sing a variety of songs and music from varied genres, times and cultures. This will include reading lyrics and rhythm symbols, and interpreting charts for drums, keyboards, guitars and ukuleles.
