Health & PE

This week in Health and PE our students explored what it means to be healthy and some of the many signs, messages, strategies, people and places in our community which support us to be healthy. We also began looking at the many benefits of physical activity including improving sleep, strengthening bodies, reenergising the brain and enhancing relationships and social wellbeing. We will continue to explore this along with other ways we can keep healthy over the remainder of the term.
During our Physical Activity sessions, students in Grade 2-6 enjoyed engaging in fun warm ups focused on team work, along with netball focused skills, including passing, catching, pivoting and shooting and of course more team work. It was great to observe the support our students provide one another! We will continue this focus next week, before diving into AFL skills followed by basketball skills.
Students in Grade F/1 this week engaged in whole group, small group and partner games and activities to focus on further developing some fundamental motor skills including throw, catch, run and jump. Once again, our school juniors demonstrated amazing teamwork and support for each other, along with great focus and a determination to try their best! It was fun learning some tabloid sports games in preparation for our District Tabloid Sports Day next term. We will continue learning these in the lead up to the event.
