F/1/2

 Blythe and Mrs Cotter

In Maths this week, F/1/2 has been learning how to solve worded problems by following a simple set of strategies. We begin by reading each problem carefully, first to understand the story, and then to identify the important numbers. Students have been practising how to spot key information, such as numbers and action words like more, left, altogether, and shared. Students then work out what the question is asking them to do, whether it is putting amounts together, taking away, sharing, or comparing. To show their thinking, students draw pictures or use counters to visualise the question. Finally writing the number sentence.

Swimming the last two Fridays has been the perfect way to end the week, enjoying some active fun with their classmates.
