Principal's Report

Term 2 Week 7
Dear Families,
I was fortunate Wednesday to spend the day at Sovereign Hill with our Year 4 campers. Whist a little brisk, the sun remained out for most of the day. Students enjoyed their final mine tour, lolly making demonstration and chance to purchase souvenirs from the main street. From all accounts, our Year 4s had an enjoyable time at camp and applied their learning from the classroom to this authentic 1800s experience. Thank you to our Year 4 students for representing our school well, and to all of our teachers who planned, participated and attended the camp.
I would like to welcome Mr Jonathon Skipworth to Williamstown North, undertaking the role of Acting Assistant Principal from next week until the start of Term 3. Jonathon will be supporting Ms Moodley from the 16th of June whilst I am on long service leave. I will be returning for Term 3.
Next Friday is also Laura Breen’s (Mclean) last day at Williamstown North for the year, as she and her husband welcome their first child in the near future. We thank Laura for her wonderful contributions to our school, and look forward to her return in the future.
Next week, students in Years 4-6 will be undertaking the Student Attitudes to School Survey. The survey will ask your child about their thoughts and feelings about their school, their learning, relationships with other students, resilience, bullying, health and wellbeing, physical activity, and life in general. Young people enjoy having a say! This survey has been running for nearly 20 years, and helps schools plan programs and activities to improve your child’s engagement with school, their wellbeing, and their learning.
Early in Week 11, Semester 1 reports will be made live. Please be aware that reporting metrics have changed with the changing curriculum this and last year. Please read through the documentation attached to the reports, and ask classroom teachers any questions and clarify any concerns you may have.
A reminder that next Monday is a public holiday for the King’s Birthday, and no staff or students will be onsite.
Have a wonderful long weekend!
