Important and Exciting Updates

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week marked our first full week back for the term, and as always, it has been filled with engaging programs and valuable experiences for our students.

A significant highlight has been the handover of our new building, which includes four new classrooms and specialist learning areas. While we now have access to this wonderful new space, there are still a few final details to complete before it is fully operational. We will be taking a measured and considered approach to moving into the new facility to ensure a smooth transition and minimise any disruption to our school community. We're also thrilled to share that, due to the successful management of the building project, there were surplus funds remaining. As a result, we’ve received confirmation of an exciting upgrade to the basketball area adjacent to the new building—another enhancement that everyone is eagerly looking forward to.

If you're visiting the front office, you might notice a small poster highlighting a resource called Healthy Minds—a free mental health tool specifically designed for individuals with intellectual disabilities. We encourage families to explore this resource together. It’s never too early to start learning about mental health, and this tool offers a wonderful opportunity to support your child's wellbeing while developing skills that will serve them now and into the future.

Wellbeing continues to be a strong focus across our school programs. PLC 1 had a fantastic excursion to We Rock the Spectrum, which helps younger students build skills to access their community with a focus on health and wellbeing. Our own therapy team accompanied the visit to observe and design follow-up programs tailored to our students' ongoing development.

This week also included several important incursions. Sexual Health Victoria delivered sessions tailored for our upper junior and senior students, while our Pathways students engaged with The Pat Cronin Foundation's “Violence Is Never OK” program—a powerful initiative that promotes respectful relationships and personal safety.

All of these programs have been enthusiastically received by both students and staff, and they reflect our ongoing commitment to providing rich learning opportunities that support academic, social, and emotional growth.

Warm regards,

Shaun Bacon
