Book Week

As with all Book Weeks, there's a specific theme that the entire week is centered around. The theme of "Read, Grow, Inspire" is focused on how literature has the capacity to develop a child's inner world and how it can plant the seed of inspiration for them to express their own creativity. It was delightful to see many instances during the week that allowed our students to explore their creativity, from the Book Week parade and dress ups, the Friday afternoon disco to a variety of art, music and classroom activities. Thank you to SLC 6 for organising and running the parade and well done to Erica Brown for announcing each class's turn. A particular highlight was seeing the students taking turns throughout the week to make announcements using the school PA system, either to share their thoughts and ideas about particular books or reading in general.

Silent Morning Tea

On Wednesday the 23rd of October Belmore School staff celebrated Speech Pathology week with a Silent morning Tea. Staff were encouraged to only use alternate communication methods such as; key word sign, AUSLAN, AAC devices, gestures and prompts. It is a great way to raise awareness about augmentative and alternative communication and for us to experience some of the challenges many of our students face daily.

Father's Day Afternoon Tea

There was so much excitement around Father’s Day afternoon tea. Students’ dads and special people were invited to spend an afternoon together, be catered for and join their children in a musical performance led by our Music Therapist Troy. There was singing, movement, laughter and smiles all around. It was such a pleasure to host this event and we look forward to many more gatherings with our families.

Capital Works Project update

It's been a very busy time on the other side of the wall again this last few weeks. Flooring is being prepared, hoist tracks and cabinetry being installed and the final touches of the painting in 5 of the classrooms being completed. It was great to see the crane lifting in place some long awaited and very important steel on Saturday the 26th of August!

Curriculum Day - Monday 2nd of October

With the progress that has been made in our Capital Works project over the last 4 weeks, we are now preparing for a partial move into stage B classrooms. This will allow the building team to commence Stage C (playground) earlier than expected, whilst they complete the remainder of stage B.

Therefor we will have a curriculum day on Monday the 2nd of October to facilitate this move. Thank you in advance for your support.
