Library Awards

Congratulations to the winners of our Term 1 draws so far this year.
The following students’ names were drawn from the Library Awards box, and their selected books are listed below:
The Library Awards box is filling quickly, and we look forward to many more draws throughout the year!

This year’s National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) will take place on Wednesday 27 May at 12:00 pm across Australia. This annual event is coordinated by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
Everyone can join in—whether at a library, school, bookstore, childcare centre or at home. Our school is registered to participate, and while classes may not read the book at exactly 12:00 pm, they are encouraged to read it as close to this time as possible. ALIA also provides links to a range of optional classroom activities.
About the book: Rookie captain Luna Roo gives her all on the pitch as she leads FC Outback in a thrilling face-off against Bush United. With a spider goalkeeper, snakes in attack and nerves bubbling, Luna must trust her skills and her teammates to succeed. Written by football veterans Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, Luna Roo captures the excitement of the game while delivering a heart warming message about courage and determination.

Issue 3 brochures were distributed last week. The closing date for orders is Thursday 7 May.
Families who place an order this issue will receive a $5 promotional code to use on Issue 4.

Scholastic also runs a National Family Reading Month challenge in May titled “Read Every Day! Read More in May!”Details can be found on the back page of the Book Club brochure, along with a QR code for further information.

The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is now open, and once again Bimbadeen is taking part!
While our main focus will be during Terms 2 and 3, any books read since the start date (Monday 16 March) can be included. The Challenge is open to all Victorian children from birth to Year 10 and encourages a lifelong love of reading. It is not a competition, but a personal challenge.
Students can easily identify Challenge books in our library, as most titles on the booklist are marked with a sticker.
The final date to log books online is Friday 4 September.
All children who complete the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by current and former Victorian Premiers. Further information is included elsewhere in this newsletter.

Would you like to help in our library?
This term, Tuesday afternoons from 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm have been set aside for parents, grandparents and friends to assist with tasks such as book processing, covering and shelving.
If you are interested, please contact me via Sentral or email at karin.sansom@education.vic.gov.au.
On these days, please sign in at the office and ensure you have a valid WWCC registered with the school. Office staff will notify me of your arrival, and I will direct you to where I am working (often in the BER for book processing tasks).
We would love to see you there!
Till next time, happy reading everyone!
