Assistant Principal's Report
Welcome back to what promises to be an exciting and busy Term 4 at Melbourne Girls’ College! As we head into the final stretch of the year, it’s wonderful to reflect on the energy, creativity, and commitment our students have shown across so many areas of school life.
A huge congratulations to our Aerobics team who represented MGC at the AeroSchools National Championships. Competing on the national stage is an incredible achievement, and our Year 7 and 8 students demonstrated exceptional teamwork, perseverance, and school spirit throughout the event. We are so proud of the way they supported one another and showcased their skills with confidence and grace.
Congratulations also go to the talented students who took part in Life is a Cabaret, our student led production. The creativity, dedication, and collaboration shown by all involved, from performers to backstage crew, brought this vibrant production to life. It was a celebration of the arts at MGC and a testament to what our students can achieve when they lead with passion and imagination.
All Year 8 students participated in the Bad Science incursions. This experience encouraged curiosity, critical thinking, and a sense of fun as students explored the weird and wonderful world of science and made decisions about who they can believe and what science they can trust.
Finally, congratulations to all Year 8 students who attended the Rowing Camp over the holidays. It was fantastic to see so many students embracing the challenges of teamwork and physical endurance. Your enthusiasm and commitment have set a strong foundation for the upcoming rowing season.
As we move into Term 4, there is much to look forward to, from final Learning Tasks and celebrations to transition activities and end of year events. We encourage all students to stay focused, support one another, and finish the year with the same enthusiasm and kindness that has defined 2025 so far.

Year 7
On Tuesday 26 August, we celebrated our Year 7 students 100th day of high school! To mark this fantastic achievement, the students put aside their regular timetable for a day of fun, team building activities.
The day kicked off with a whole year assembly, followed by a rotating schedule of engaging workshops. Divided into their four Houses, Melba, Lyons, Maris, and Chisholm, students rotated through four distinct activities that got them moving, thinking, and expressing their creativity.
Country Disco
The multi purpose classroom was transformed for a beginner line dancing class! It was a high energy session that saw students and staff alike busting a move and learning some new steps.
Cinema Experience
For those needing a break, the Theatre offered a chance to relax and enjoy a movie experience. This was a welcome quiet time, where students could simply sit back and enjoy the show with their peers.
Trivia Tournament
Minds were put to the test in the Trivia rooms! Working in teams of five, students competed in a fun, fast paced tournament covering general knowledge. The winning team was awarded a prize, a great incentive for some friendly competition!
Rock Painting
A creative outlet was provided through Rock Painting. Students collected a rock, returned to the classroom, and used paint pens to decorate it with unique designs, guided by an inspiration presentation. These personalised creations, many featuring the students' names or initials, will be placed in the Murnong Garden over the coming weeks, serving as a lasting marker of their 100th day.
To top off the day, students were treated to a special delivery of 100 Days themed cupcakes to enjoy during one of their sessions. A well deserved sweet treat for their hard work and commitment this year.
The 100 Days celebration was a fantastic opportunity for our Year 7s to connect with their peers outside of the classroom environment and acknowledge how far they have come since February. Congratulations to all our students on reaching this significant milestone! We look forward to seeing what they accomplish over the rest of the year.

Wellbeing Day 2025
We started off with the silent disco, it was really fun. We danced around the school to Charlie XCX. The music got us really up and about and the vibes were great. I got my Homegroup teacher to dance with us, then everyone got involved.
Then we got cupcakes as a treat in Homegroup– they were so delicious.
Next, was a Trivia competition. It was difficult, but we answered most of the questions.
We made dream catchers as our craft – it was challenging but I made a cool dream catcher to take home.
My favourite part of wellbeing day was the cupcakes and the dancing with Guru Dudu.

Wellbeing Day was really fun, we should do this once a week! The movie was really good; we got to chill and relax. Especially after a long term. I really liked the disco because it was fun to dance and sing with friends around the school. The trivia was competitive and exciting to get prizes. The dream catchers were calming and mindful. The day was awesome and a nice way to end the term.
