MGC Parents’ Association News

Father’s Day Breakfast

Our Parent Association hosted a lovely Father’s Day breakfast for dads, daughters, and caregivers at the Gillard Centre on Friday, August 29th. To ensure everyone could participate, the event was held a week early, allowing families to enjoy various celebrations in the weeks to come. Guests savoured a delightful selection of baked goods from Three Birds Bakery, including bagels, cupcakes, croissants, donuts, and yogurt pots, complemented by juice and hot drinks. We are grateful to Principal Tamy Stubley for her warm welcome to our guests and extend a special thanks to PA members Sue and Toni for organizing this wonderful event, along with their daughters Isabella and Ivy and our always reliable parent volunteer Elisa for her support throughout the morning.

This year marked Sue’s final time hosting the breakfast, as her daughter is completing year 12. We appreciate her dedication in reviving this event post-COVID, as it provides a lovely opportunity for parents to connect with the school community. Her tireless efforts in organizing this gathering on behalf of the PA are truly valued. Thank you Sue!

Staff Thank You Lunch

The Staff Thank You Lunch took place on Monday, September 15th, thanks to a dedicated group of PA members and the generous support of our school families. We truly appreciate everyone who brought in delicious homemade treats and other items to show their gratitude for the hard work of our MGC staff. The PA truly appreciates your contributions, and the staff is always genuinely moved by the wonderful array of food.

A big thank you to everyone who helped put the event together, especially our PA members Julie, Alison, along with the parent volunteers who stepped up to support us.

How to contribute to the Parents’ Association and support our Grants Scheme

The generous financial contributions from families through fundraising and school support allows the Parents’ Association to provide teaching staff and student groups with opportunities for additional funding. These grants are essential for programs and equipment that would otherwise be difficult to implement or acquire. Recent funding has supported initiatives such as waste reduction equipment for the environmental team, orienteering equipment, Model UN General Assembly for the Humanities department, a bass flute for the music program, and digital SLR cameras for Media department.

The MGC PA Grants Committee has received funding requests from both staff and students this term. These applications encompass a range of initiatives, including programs, guest speakers, equipment purchases, and attendance at student conferences. We are eager to sup-port these creative proposals that promise to positively influence our community.

To continue supporting the vital work of the Parents’ Association and the Annual Grants Scheme, please indicate your contribution through the Lead and Achieve tick box on your 2026 financial contributions. The MGC Parents’ Association plays a crucial role in enhancing our students’ educational experiences by fostering community connections and providing necessary assistance. We sincerely appreciate your ongoing support and contributions.

MGC Parent Involvement

Are you interested in a role at the MGC Parents’ Association?

The MGC Parents’ Association has several positions still vacant for parents and carers interested to help us support our school’s community.

If you are interested to in helping but are very, this year we have established working groups where you can get involved in a specific task supporting our main activities. For example, you can help support setting up a particular event like the upcoming Mother’s Day morning tea or can help us prepare a poster to promote our actions from the community survey we conducted last year.
